How it began…

“We first met in College and became friends. Then years later found each other at the right time and right place.”

— Yuji

Sophia and Yuji

Sophia and Yuji’s story kicks off back in college at ICU in Japan. They hit it off right from the start, meeting on orientation day and hitting it off as friends. But life threw them a curveball when Yuji dashed off to college in Canada after a year. They kept in touch here and there, though.

Fast forward to after graduation: Yuji's doing his thing in Canada, and Sophia’s back in Japan hustling in her career. But then Yuji gets the itch for a change, craving the snowy mountains of Hokkaido. And guess who he reconnects with? Yep, Sophia.

They spend time on and off together until Sophia decides to dive into Yuji’s adventure. That's when sparks start flying, and they realize they’re not just friends—they’re head-over-heels in love and badass partners in crime. The pandemic rolls in, and they weather it together, cementing their bond as BFFs and soulmates.

Now, they’re ready to take the leap and make it official!

Sophie’s Side of Story

Yuji and I met the first day of uni at entrance ceremony day. We were all seated in order of our last name, and my close friend from highschool was seated next to Yuji. When all the long, boring inauguration speech finished, she introduced me to Yuji, and along with three other friends, we clicked early on and called ourselves the Chillax group - yes, we thought we were the chill, “mature” cool uni students.

We would hangout a lot, go to Fuji-Q, Inokashira Park, chill at campus together, and somehow, I felt Yuji and I had some kind of special connection. It’s not a secret that he was my favorite guy friend haha. That’s why we kept in touch even when Yuji fled Japan after sophomore year.
We met up in Tokyo, New York, Toronto, LA and each reunion was so much fun! I secretly start to wonder what it would be like to date Yuji… Meanwhile I was stuck in Tokyo with a 9-5 job, Yuji starts a complete new chapter of a seasonal lifestyle in the snowy mountains. Totally inspired by him and the love blind desire to be close with him, (and let’s not forget by my love towards snowboarding ) I start to get ready to quit the corporate scene.

Well time flies, and after some MAJOR hiccups, we finally made the move to do a season in Whistler, Canada, and he finally asked me to be his girlfriend on January 1, 2020. And after three years, he proposed to me at the base of Mt. Yotei in the deep snow as the snow started blizzarding- couldn’t be any more “us” and perfect

And the rest is history.

We want to bring together our closest family and friends to celebrate a beautiful day that will forever be remembered.
